DR. TALITHA WASHINGTON, KEYNOTE SPEAKER
Dr. Talitha Washington is the inaugural Director of the Atlanta University Center Consortium (AUCC) Data Science Initiative. This new initiative seeks to provide data-driven solutions to current and emerging societal problems, especially as it pertains to the African American community. Poised to bring new diverse perspectives to data science, Dr. Washington is a professor of Mathematics at Clark Atlanta University and is an affiliate faculty member at Morehouse College, Morehouse School of Medicine, and Spelman College. Prior to joining the AUCC, Dr. Washington was an Associate Professor of Mathematics at Howard University in Washington, DC, and served as a Program Officer at the National Science Foundation.
DR. PHYLLIS SCHNECK, KEYNOTE SPEAKER
Dr. Phyllis Schneck is the Vice President and Chief Information Security Officer for Northrop Grumman Corporation. A graduate of Georgia Tech, Dr. Schneck has a background in high-performance computing and its applications to cyberthreat intelligence and cryptography. Prior to Northrop Grumman, she joined Promontory from the Department of Homeland Security, where she served as the deputy undersecretary for cybersecurity and communications and led responses to cybersecurity threats against corporations, civilians, and the government. During her DHS tenure, Phyllis led the defensive cybersecurity operational mission to mitigate and respond to cyberthreats across the federal civilian government and private sector.
DAREN HUBBARD, EXECUTIVE SPONSOR
Daren Hubbard is the vice president for Information Technology and chief information officer (CIO) at Georgia Tech. In his role, Hubbard provides vision, leadership, and oversight in the development and implementation of information technology. He is responsible for establishing the strategic direction of information technology resources, including a governance strategy, as well as supporting information users by determining trends and technologies needed to advance the Institute’s academic and research mission. With more than 20 years in higher education, Hubbard has leadership experience in application development, project management, and mobile technology. He has also served as chair of Merit Network’s board of directors and is an active member of numerous higher education technology advisory groups.
